Each year October is recognised as being a rather frightening month. And we don't just mean for Halloween. October is known for historic market plunges, from the market crashes of 1929, 1987 and 2008, and this month continues to be just as challenging. Inflation in the UK has risen above 10% for the second time this year, as households come under pressure from the sharpest annual rise in food prices for more than 40 years amid the cost of living crisis.
